Ever heard the phrase, "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade?" This phrase is one of the most commonly used sayings when people are trying to make you feel better about your life. Unfortunately, it never works!
There is nothing more frustrating than telling someone about your troubles and them give you some lame- cop out- saying that doesn’t help in the least.
It’s just like when someone asks how you are, but they couldn’t care less. You know those people. Heaven forbid that someone actually answer truthfully! (haha)
These days people are only interested in very impersonal responses, such as, “fine.” With the invention of technology we’ve created a whole generation of people who never actually say what they mean, or if they do it’s not face to face (i.e. texting, facebook, twitter, and blogging). This has become the only source of truly being able to speak our mind without ever having to face personal conflict. We don’t need any help making our life less personable.
The point is, instead of using lame phrases to put a wall up against the true feelings of people- just listen. You might just learn something. Encourage someone. Next time someone is having a bad day, ask how you can help. Be genuine; be interested. Why, you ask? Because it’s the right thing to do.
Besides you can’t make lemonade without any sugar, or else it’s really gross.
Until Later – Don’t be a sour!
